As we all know that Andhra Bank and corporation Bank are merged into “Union Bank of India” in 2020 April, Union Bank allows the customers of Corporation Bank and Andhra Bank to use their old Cheque Books till date.
But recently Union Bank sets a dead-line to merged bank a/c holders to take new cheque books on or before 30 September 2021. That means customers of corporation bank and andhra bank can’t use their old cheque books with effect from 1st October,2021. They have to take “Union Bank” Cheque books and use it from thereon.
Actually RBI instructed all the merged bank a/c holders to take Base Bank cheque books on or before 31st March,2021. But due to Covid second wave, it was extended to 30July and now to 30th september 2021.
As Union Bank extends the deadline 2 times, we can’t expect it to extend more. So if you are using Old Cheque Books of Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank, update it with Union Bank Cheque Books by giving cheque book request form at your base branch or applying it through Union Bank internet banking or at ATM’s.
Don’t wait till the last moment. If you want to do your transactions hassle-free, update your old cheque books with new ones before 30 September 2021.
